About the author

Mary Jane Schriner is a freelance writer for the NY Times and published author. Recently Mary Jane wrote a story for the NY Times recalling her frienship with Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.  Her story was one of the most widely praised articles written about George’s passing. You can read her story at this link, In Dresser Drawer, Recalling a Chivalrous Steinbrenner. The letters Mary Jane received from George can be seen at the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Now at age 78, Mary Jane has assembled a collection of short stories which she has written over the last 40 years. Mary Jane has published her stories in a new book called “And So”. Several of her stories can be found on this blog, including her brand new story “Summers with George”, a great retrospective on a soon to be sports icon.
